BHP Laboratories is the largest independent provider of mechanical testing in Ireland. We offer a wide range of services in manufacturing and construction. Our services include metal, plastic materials, and product testing.

For metals testing, we offer services such as welding procedures & welder qualification, welding quality control, and material quality assessment, recertification, and upgrading. We also offer reinforcing bar testing to CARES requirements (BS 8666).

For plastics testing, we offer plastic pipe welded joint testing services for both butt fusion and electrofusion welds of polymer materials including polyethylene and polypropylene. Testing includes all variations of welded joints for water piping, sewage & wastewater piping, gas piping, and industrial plant process piping. Specific tests include tensile strength, peel decohesion, crushing decohesion, and the evaluation of joint ductility by tear test.

For product testing, we offer compression and tension loading testing of a variety of products using our 600kN and 20kN test machines. Product testing includes covers, aerospace components, bespoke tests, and reinforcing bars.

All testing is carried out by experienced technicians in our INAB ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, with results delivered to agreed turnaround times. We also provide on-site collections by BHP drivers and site audits, with a fleet of fully equipped vehicles and field operatives covering all of Ireland.
